SPOTLIGHT: Science & Environment

Aaron was given a beehive as a 4-H project at the age of 9. This sparked a life-long love of bugs and in particular the social insects. He settled on termites as a career, mostly because he found them mysterious, little-understood, and fascinating. This presentation will touch on the termites of Florida, with an emphasis on the termites that are not pests, but merely present and doing their thing in our backyards. I will mostly focus on what I find so fascinating about these insects. I will also briefly discuss pest termites; what to look out for, and how to treat them.
